DIY :: Med Student Birthday Card

This fun little card took a lot of twists and turns in the making.
Sometimes ideas are hard to come by when you need them and other times there are too many to choose from. It’s a conundrum, however, when they are plentiful it is fun to try them all, which I usually do and did this time. That resulted in three different card front ideas that I had to choose from and I can say from experience it is not always easy.
This little guy was fun. He looks like he has been on a lot of long shifts at the hospital seeing patients and is ready for a Birthday break. He started out as a plain, ordinary, blue monster however once I added a white coat, pants, a belt, stethoscope, clipboard and some balloons he looked a bit more like a med student on rotations who is ready for a break to celebrate his birthday.
For the inside of the card I made a pegboard to hold a clipboard, white coat on a mini hanger and a stethoscope which were all handmade. The place to hang up the things you won’t need when you are Off~Duty.
The back of the card has a doodle at the bottom and below are some of the doodles for the card before it all came together.
The element squares took a little extra time to make however once they were ready and printed they were easy to cut and mount.  The little white coat fit on the itty bitty DIY hanger perfectly.
The other design for the front was a pair of hiking boots with a tag attached to the back that also says “Off duty”. The name badge and a space for the birthday message were on the inside of the card, opposite the pegboard. So there you have it. The birthday card run down.
Every year is a new adventure and we can hardly wait to see what is ahead.

Happy Thursday!
