NEW Summer Chalkboard :: think PINEAPPLE!

It was time to give our chalkboard an update and a Pineapple came to mind. Not surprising since pineapples have been a personal favorite for years.
Something fun for the second half of summer.

Aloha!

A Fisherman's Paradise

Words are hard to come by to describe the beauty of the Kenai River. The entire ribbon of variegated blue water, that appeared to stretch forever, was absolutely awe~inspiring!
It was also apparent
The Catch Was On!
Is it like this every day on the Kenai River?
That would be an easy foregone conclusion, however, as it is with fishing everywhere, one would assume there are apt to be times the fish don't bite.
Maybe not here though.
Fisherman were out in droves...
...and were enjoying the abundance of fish...
...as the rafters floated by and looked on.
There were plenty of pull~outs along the road to park...
and trails to lead you....
....down to the river.
Fisherman could be seen...
at every stop along the way.
So peaceful and serene.
A picture is worth a thousand words....
....but actually seeing and experiencing this beautiful place
is believing!

Happy Saturday!!

Halibut Fishing Capital of the World

A ribbon of highway, railroad tracks, rivers and streams wrapped around the majestic mountains...
...guiding boats, trains and automobiles...
...to a well known little town fishing town.
The view from the docks there is beautiful.
The wildlife is amazing too!
Adorable little shops and...
...cute restaurants lined the road.
But beware,
the hours of operation are dependent on the help
that is available each day,
 so flexibility is key.
Clouds or no clouds,
no matter where you turn...
...it is absolutely beautiful...
...in Homer, Alaska!

Wishing you

Fair Winds
and
Following Seas!

Backyard Butterflies

Never, have we ever, seen butterflies like this before in our backyard.
They have been in and out of our garden for a few days now and finally landed on some flowers, that  just happened to be close enough for us to get a better look and take some photos.
Butterflies are some of the most beautiful insects in the world. They do not seem to linger in one place very long so are easy to miss if we are not on the watch for them while out in our yard.
These amazing, small flying insects are a great reminder that there is always beauty after pain.
What a blessing!

May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun
And find your shoulder to light on,
To bring you luck, happiness and riches
Today, tomorrow and beyond.
-Irish Blessing

Happy Friday!!
