Blackberries

Blackberry Picking

A wonderful day is unfolding.
A child has gone blackberry picking.
Along a thorn freckled hillside,
these bursting fruits do reside.
Nary a cloud in the sky.
Only sunshine by and by.
Nature's gladdest moment does shine,
All along that slope of mine.
A happy jaunt in his step,
For blackberry thoughts do pep.
Later on after a culling's done,
its off to home with berries won.

chocolate cupcakes { pink & blue frosting }

End of Summer
party treat!

Our daughter made these cupcakes with the same recipe I used for my hydrangea cupcakes only she used butter cream frosting instead of cream cheese frosting. She decided to frost the cupcakes pink & blue which are the favorite colors of two of her friends who were hosting the End of Summer party with their parents.

 She even made enough cupcakes so that we could have some too~lucky us!

Happy Saturday!!

{ little wallet } week

We have been busy sewing "little wallets" this week! In fact, we have now run out of snaps so are hoping to find time today to pick up some more as well as some new fabric.

Also, my pictures didn't turn out as well as I would have liked but decided to post a few anyway. We have some more "little wallets" finished that we will share soon.

bumper crops

It seems as if all of our plants and flowers are bigger than usual this year
especially our
I have never seen so many pears on our tree before. The heavy, overloaded branches are being held up by supports
but the limbs still cannot hold the weight of so much fruit
so this is what we find each morning, noon and night.
I think we will need to start picking the pears sooner than later and let them ripen off the tree.
{I can hardly wait to get out my pear recipes!}

We have a boatload of tomatoes too
and have been patiently waiting for them to turn RED.
 Finally on Sunday, we found our
 first 2 RIPE tomatoes
of the season!!!
Always plenty of yard work to do,
especially in the summer.

Sunday Sewing Project { little wallet }

love, Love, LOVE
 this
"little wallet"!!

Originally I had planned on making one of these fun "little wallets" after seeing them at the Stitchin' Post this summer but instead
Emm's beat me to it.
Sunday evening she whipped out the first one which she is going to give as a birthday present. She even made a little matching "happy birthday" card that she slipped into one of the pockets {not shown}.
So cute.

We both agree this is an easy and fun project to make, in fact, she is making more "little wallets" this week! After that I think I'll try making a few.

WILD about...

the
ZOO!
Yesterday I spent a wildly wonderful morning at the ZOO with two of our kids, our oldest and youngest. We arrived early hoping to be there for feeding time and before it got too hot for the animals and for us. Our timing was perfect. I hadn't been to the ZOO for a few years so it was really fun to see some of the new animals and exhibits as well as the old, familiar ones. We had a good time reminiscing about ZOO Lights, ZOO Camp, the ZOO Train and all of the other ZOO experiences we've had over the years. We had a great time.
Have a
wildly
wonderful week!
