Project Detour

It has been a while since my last post due to technical difficulties however it looks like things are good to go!
There is a lot to catch up on so lots of posts ahead. One of the recent projects was our built-in patio bar. The original plan was to tile the floor in front of the bar however, when we tiled the patio on the other side we ran short on time and the backside did not get finished. It had a cement pad but no tile.
Well,, that has now been finished!
The hubs has been working hard on our indoor  projects and had a little time in-between to get the outside bar floor finished.
It looks so much better now.
In the next couple days he plans on finishing the edge of the pond with tile as well. Then he can check that off the list too!

Happy Saturday!

May Day 2025

Our May flowers are beginning to bloom.
And.....the birds were out and about last night.
They serenaded us from the trees as we sat at our fire pit enjoying the warmth of the fire.
We watched as they chased each other from tree to tree.
As well as, catching insects in flight, which is fascinating.
Summer is just around the corner. It will be here before we know it!

Happy Saturday!

Fire Pit Progress & more!

First, a look at our flowers.
Our hydrangeas are so big they have fallen over.
But no matter, they are still just as pretty.
They all used to be traditional hydrangea blue but over the years some of them have changed color and are so pretty.
And the clematis over our gate has had lots of beautiful flowers as well.
The other yard news is that Mr. Wonderful has finally finished rebuilding the rock wall that is next to the new fire pit benches!
It was not as easy as one might think, especially for one person.
It took several attempts but it finally came together. YAY!!
The lavender will need some time to fill in after being tied up for so long.
One step closer to finishing this project. The last big step is to prep and put the finish on the new cement benches. That should be happening soon if all goes well.

Happy Friday!

Firepit Makeover Update

The new Rock Retaining Wall is close to completion.

Some of the large rocks on the sides still need to be put back in place,
however, the back wall above and below the new cement seat is finished.
The cement seat though, still needs to be completed, however, it will not take nearly as long.
Once the cement bench is complete . . .
. . . the fire pit cover is weathered and needs a little attention so will be refinished or remade,
the inside needs updating and the brick skirt will also be washed and coated with a protectant. Then we will be ready to build some fires again!
Also, at the same time our front yard is getting an update.
It needs new grass and new, updated flower beds.
So the projects continue and I will be back soon to report on our progress.

Happy Monday!

Home is where the heart is, even for a bird.

Oh, the Joy of Baby Birds!
Here is a peek inside our current Bird's Nest that is nestled, once again, in our hanging Begonia.
It is hard to tell but there are three baby birds in the nest.
The mama bird keeps an eye on her babies from our pear tree which close by.
The hubs took this great picture for me since I could not get up high enough to see around the flowers and did not want to disturb the mama bird and her babies.
She keeps a vigilant watch over her precious family from her perch.
Our flower basket hangs close to the house so it is about the safest place for a birds nest and probably why we have one there every year.
So much love in one little nest!

Have a Terrific Thursday!

Soaking up the sun . . .

My happy place: surrounded by family & blueberry bushes.
Feeling berry grateful.
