SUPER MARIO "30th" Birthday Party

Sunday we celebrated TWO "30th" Birthdays!
Our oldest son and his wife both have birthdays in April and since this was their big "three ~ O" I wanted to do something fun. I did a little research and was reminded that Nintendo came out with Super Mario Bros in 1985 so thought that would be the perfect theme since it has lots of fun characters and bright colors.
I made a colorful banner using card stock for the flags and found checkered tissue paper in my wrapping supplies which I glued to poster board for contrasting flags. I also made double sided "30 ~ UP" mushroom decorations and cut out lots of dots in various colors and sizes to decorate the table.
I wanted some photo props so I made Mario and Luigi hats and mustaches, a Princess Peach crown and some fun red lips.
For dinner we had a Texas style BBQ and I served cupcakes, stamped star shaped sugar cookies and an apple pie for dessert.
Lots of theme related candy too!
Princess Peach Rings
Gold Coins
 Atomic Fire Balls
and
colorful gum balls
I also made a couple birthday graphics in bright colors to match the table.
Happy "30th" Birthday J & C!

S.p.R.u.N.g! workshop { Hollyhill Quilt Shoppe }

On Saturday my mother and I attended a very, very fun all day workshop at Hollyhill Quilt Shoppe. The classroom is actually across the hall from the quilt shoppe and is decorated with the most beautiful quilts, charming antiques and an assortment of rustic and elegant chandeliers. There were 4 designers who each taught a project and 60 eager students.
Kathy Schmitz was our first instructor and she started off our morning with this "Bee Happy" embroidery project.
Next it was time for lunch! We all went across the hall to do a little shopping at Hollyhill Quilt Shoppe while the caterer set up. When we returned we did a little chicken dance { yes...we really danced :) } and then had a delicious lunch.
During lunch the raffle opened for these three lovely quilts. They were displayed in the hallway outside the classroom. Mom and I earned three tickets during the day so we are hoping to be one of the lucky winners!
This wonderful wool "Spring Posy Case" was our 2nd project. Our instructor was Kathy Cardiff.
Sherri Falls was our 3rd instructor. She taught this fun "Paper Piecing Pin Cushion" project.
Our final project was this cute wool and flannel "Little Spring Chick" by Bonnie Sullivan.
I learned some new techniques, discovered a few new products and am filled with inspiration. I also came home with a few "extra projects" which I will get to when I have finished all four projects from the workshop.
Thank you Hollyhill Quilt Shoppe and Designers for the very fun and creative day!!

Easter Bunny Napkins

I hope you had a wonderful Easter!
I just thought I would share these festive folded Easter Bunny Napkins that I made over the weekend. I happened to have all the supplies on hand; plastic eggs, both pink and white napkins and bakers twine which I used to tie the ears together. I placed an Easter Bunny Napkin in a goblet and set one at each place setting at the dinner table. A fun little holiday project.
Have a wonderful day!
