owl card/banner { sorority }

A special card for a special
Chi Omega
pledge!
handmade card and envelope
card: inside~showing hidden greek letters
{before message & poem attached}
card: outside
inside left: poem w/instructions
inside right: message
banner
{wings are still attached in this photo}

This is a card I designed for our niece/cousin who pledged the Chi Omega sorority a few weeks ago. I wanted to make her a special card that was theme related but also something she could use as a decoration in her dorm room. Sort of a multi~purpose card you might say. With that in mind I created this card which becomes a small banner by simply clipping the wings between the owls. The parts are connected by ribbon that is carefully threaded and tied so that once the wings are cut it will unfold to reveal the ready~to~hang banner with an owl on each side of the greek letters {not shown}. Once I settled on the overall look and figured out the mechanics I made templates, traced and then hand cut all the parts including the custom sized matching envelope. I also added glitter and rhinestones to embellish each component. Next, I composed a short poem to explain how to turn the card into a banner and attached that to the inside left and attached a message on the opposite side. And finally, assembling everything was the last step in making this combination card/banner.

Congrats
to our
new
Chi Omega
pledge!

artichoke/sun~dried tomato QUICHE { a before school brunch~for two }

Yesterday I made this yummy quiche for a special little "mother/daughter" brunch before school.
I had been told about a crustless sun~dried tomato quiche in the deli case at Market of Choice which sounded so good and inspired me to look for a recipe with some of  the same ingredients. I discovered several different recipes but finally narrowed it down to this one and
it was
WONDERFUL!

You can find the original recipe here or use the version below which I modified slightly to reflect my substitution of oil~packed, marinated sun~dried tomatoes.
Happy Friday!

Sausage, Pepper, Potato Medley

This easy recipe was sent to me last week by my sister {thanks a bunch!} who got it from a friend many years ago. I thought it looked like a great meal to make on game days when we typically get home late from sports
so
I tried it out on Tuesday after the soccer game
and it was perfect~
quick, easy and delicious.
This will be a great recipe to have on hand for those busy days when I don't have a lot of time to spend in the kitchen.

* I did make a small change and used spicy sausage instead for extra flavor and I also made gravy out of the pan drippings which we really liked.

The cones also make great packaging for a
Whether you are making
Caramel Corn Cones
for an entire team/group or just one person
the best part about using waffle cones to serve/package caramel corn is...
...you can EAT the container when you're finished!
