DIY Caramel Apples
I made these last night to be given as secret buddy gifts for soccer but they would also make great fall gifts

I used sprinkles and ribbon in school colors and attached a soccer ball tag to go with the theme.

Frog Prince?

Could it be?
I found this little guy in my potted geraniums on our front porch last weekend, patiently waiting for that magical kiss it seems. I hope he receives it soon so that I can spruce up my pot with some fall flowers.

soccer mom

in her soccer rain gear!
I must say, the waterproof poncho isn't the most fashionable outerwear but I achieved my goal,
I managed to stay
DRY
and so did my ski coat, fleece zip out coat, fleece jacket, fleece vest and long sleeved fleece shirt, jeans, rain boots, purse and wool stadium blanket
after two extremely rainy games last night at two different fields.
Oh, and did I mention, I was warm too!
After getting drenched at a soccer game last week I thought the poncho was worth a try and I think I may be onto something, although, I might need to be the trend setter as no other spectators were sporting the new poncho look.

And, to warm up after the game:
Hot homemade chili with toppings, fresh apple cider and Apple Crisp w/whipped cream...YUM!

BOOtiful black & white

DIY decorating for Halloween.
Most of the items on my black & white Halloween table I made with things that were recycled, repurposed or reused such as the leaves that I cut from pages of old books and sheet music plus recycled ribbon, rafia and netting. I also painted a pumpkin to match as well as some eucalyptus and twigs that I saved from an old arrangement, printed a little banner and a pick, added few purchased decorations that I snagged on clearance over the years and

A Taste of Fall

Stew is such an easy, no fuss meal which makes it a great choice on a weekend or busy day. It's quick to prepare, then cooks all day in the oven or crockpot and is ready to serve at dinner time. This favorite is placed back on our menu in the fall and is usually served with homemade baking powder biscuits and jam.
Pear Pie and Pumpkin Pie are also fall favorites at our house.
I begin making Pear Pies at the end of September and usually make the first Pumpkin Pie on October 1.
Yesterday I felt like making one of each!
YUM!

Happy October!

The splendor of fall.
A beautiful, lacy, dew covered spiderweb right outside my kitchen window.
Nature has started decorating for fall....
...time for me to get busy and decorate too!
