Happy Halloween: Twist & Pop card

This is not your ordinary card. In fact, there is a surprise in the middle! But before we get to that we will start at the front. The "pineapple" jack-o-lantern was something I drew using procreate and then printed for the card.
Fun Fact: the pumpkin also "glows-in-the-dark" thanks to some special glitter.
And here is the inside of this very festive Twist & Pop card!
The card closes flat however when you open it the banner pops up. How neat is that?! This project became a card making obsession so I will be back with more DIY cards.

Happy Halloween!

"creepy" Coffee Klatch treats

Cauldrons, Mummies and Pumpkins ... OH MY!
It was Coffee Klatch day at our parents house which is always a great excuse for making  seasonal treats.
Mummy raspberry pastries were quick and easy and their little imperfections made them even cuter.
The cauldrons were a fun way to make the homemade caramel corn a bit more festive.
And Pumpkin shaped muffins filled with cream cheese frosting and covered with marshmallow cobwebs filled in the gaps on the tray perfectly. We also had Almond Bar Cookies and Peanut Butter Popcorn, which were both wonderful, so the table was chock~full of sweets and treats. Another great family Coffee Klatch!

Happy Saturday!

Game Day Food

We have temporarily changed Sunday Suppers to Saturday Beaver Games so that we can all get together to watch college football on the BIG screen. It has been working well and we have been making a lot of Game Day Food.
A couple weeks ago we set out some snacks for the first half of the game.
We had a wonderful dinner at halftime however the only photos I took were of the desserts. I made a Pumpkin Sheet Cake and ended up with some leftover pumpkin so decided to make some Pumpkin Mousse too.
The BEAVS had an early kick off last Saturday { 11:30am } so there was not a lot of time for food preparation however Mr. Wonderful was able to grill a bunch of chicken wings and legs while I prepared some salads.
Everything was ready to serve at halftime.
Earlier in the morning I had made sugar cookie dough so some of us stayed in the kitchen to make cutout cookies.  Instead of footballs though we made Halloween cookies.
Once they came out of the oven they did not last long enough for frosting or photos.
Game Days are always a lot of fun!

Go BEAVS!!

the TOOTH is....

...Feel Better Soon cards
about having wisdom teeth removed
are hard to find!
Miss E recently had hers removed so I wanted to send her a card but there were none to be found. That meant my only option was to make one, which I did.
I started by drawing a molar until it looked about right and then made a template. After cutting out a few I decided to give them faces. At the last minute I added the flower embellishment to the band at the bottom to give it a little more interest.
This would also make a cute Tooth Fairy card or 1st trip to the Dentist or the last visit to the Orthodontist. You never know when you might need a card about teeth!

Have a marvelous Monday!

What's for Dinner? ~ Fall Menu Ideas

Sometimes a little inspiration helps with planning meals so here are a few Fall Menu Ideas from our kitchen.
Baked Chicken, Wild Rice and Cranberries, Spinach Apple Salad, Cornbread Pumpkin Muffins with cinnamon butter ~ for 6.
Grilled Lemon Herb Salmon with Shrimp ~ for 2.
On the Grill:
Steak, Mixed Vegetables, Foil Packet Asparagus and French Bread ~ for 6.
Grilled Ribs ~ for 10.
{ These were served with spicy smoked baked beans. Unfortunately I discovered there were no photos of the beans. Oops! I will try to get one next time. }
In recent years meal planning and preparation has become a team effort. Mr. Wonderful and I try our best to plan our menu's ahead however even the best~laid plans can go awry. When that happens we improvise { or our go~to loaded grilled cheese sandwiches will usually suffice  }.

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Orange & Black Table Decor

Tis' the season for Orange & Black at our house.
GO BEAVS!
And yes, Halloween too.
I gathered up all of our "vintage" white and orange plates and set them on felt spider webs. To make the table a little more festive I placed the small cauldrons on top. What could be easier than that?
Spiders and eyeballs add to the fun.
Whether it is Game Day or Halloween our table is ready!

Happy Friday!!
