Eggshell Flower Vases

Simple but sweet flowers adorned our Easter table this year.
The flowers were from a bouquet which was a Grand Surprise I received from Miss E about a week ago. A few flowers were beginning to wilt however the little purple flowers still looked pretty good so I decided to snip some for my  eggshell vases.
They were perfect and added a little pop of color to my neutral vintage Easter table. They also dry nicely so we get to enjoy them a little longer!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Easter Chick Cupcakes

These sweet cupcakes were on my baking list for Easter however I almost didn't have enough time to make them.
Fortunately, I did find a little time on Saturday evening to bake the cupcakes and then had just enough time to decorate them before our family arrived for Easter Dinner on Sunday.
I think they turned out pretty cute even though the decorating was a bit rushed.
They were a fun addition to our Easter dessert selection.

Happy Monday!

Easy Asparagus Orzo

Spring and Asparagus go together like Oregon and Rain, at least in my book. Every Spring I look forward to both the tender new asparagus and even the rain showers. Asparagus is perfect this time of year and this year is no exception.
We usually like to roast it however we decided to mix it with orzo one night for something new. It was really quite simple. While my orzo was  cooking I sautéed some fresh minced garlic in butter in a skillet.  Then I added asparagus that I had snapped into bite sized pieces. I only used the tender top half of the stalk however more could be used or it could be saved for something else. Once the asparagus was tender/firm I added the drained orzo to the skillet and tossed it all together with parmesan cheese. YUM!
We loved this combination and it is perfect for Spring.

Enjoy your Weekend!

Oh boy, a new TOY!!

Mr Wonderful surprised me with an electronic sketching pad over the weekend and WOW, it is amazing. I thought I would share what I have created in the last 48 hours.
Oh the things I can do with this creative tool.
There is so much to learn and the creative possibilities are endless. It is definitely hard to put it down.
I wanted to try using it on a photo and made the goofy picture above. Then Miss E and I were messing around with textures and overlays and colors...Oh My!
I have already had a special request for a framed sign so I will need to get to work on that soon with my fun new tool!

Happy Tuesday!

Get Well Soon ~ care package

It is probably safe to say that when you are under the weather the last thing you want to do is plan and cook a meal.
That was the case a few weeks ago so I made up a simple little
Get Well Soon care package for two.
If I had to do it over again I would have added a little more color to my packaging since the food was not as colorful as I would have liked but all in all it was fun to put together. I used a cardboard drink holder that I had saved to hold the canning jars full of soup, the bread and sugar cookies. It was just the right size and worked out perfectly for packing it all together.
I made most of the food the morning of delivery so it would be nice and fresh.
While the bread was baking I personalized the package with a simple tag that I made with my rubber stamps and a little freehand and also tied on some wooden spoons with handwritten messages on the handles.
Since I knew we were staying for a short visit I also made a batch of Raspberry Almond Breakfast Bars to go with our coffee. We had a nice visit and I am happy to report that they received another amazing meal the same day!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Tri~Cities visit

Last week we drove to Washington to visit the Tri~Cities. We decided to take the Columbia Gorge route which is always beautiful.
We stayed in Richland however we did visit Pasco and Kennewick too.
Our hotel was on the Columbia River with a really nice path all along the waterfront. Since it was sunny and warm we took time for a little walk.
Down the river a small Cruise Ship had docked so their passengers could take tour buses to the wineries and casino's. It was fun to see it up close.
It was a short visit but we had a wonderful time!

Happy Tuesday!
