Breakfast at Tiffany's { Crown }

Each year I make a CROWN for our Tea Party Guest of Honor,
 our Mother.
Every crown is handmade ,  theme related and no two are alike.
I begin by sketching out my idea, then making a sample and finally I make the Crown that will be given to her.
This year I thought it would be fun to make some simple tiara's to give to the other Tea Party guests so at the last minute I squeezed what should have been a quick and easy project onto my to do list. Unfortunately, in my rush, I forgot to put the paper lining on the backs of the tiara's before I glued them to the hair combs and as a result they did not stick well to the combs.  After trying one on I could tell that they would not work without the paper backing attached and by this point I had no time left to go back add it so, needless to say, I did not give out the tiara's.
Usually on the back of each crown I attach a personalized label which includes the party information, however this crown was not as big as the others so I only had room for a small Tiffany & Co. label which I made to fit the space and then adhered it to the back. Also, since the crown was so little I attached it to a headband which worked really well.

Breakfast at Tiffany's { DIY programs, games }

This is the DIY Program
I made for our
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Mother ~ Daughter Tea Party.
There is a small pocket on the back of the Menu to hold the program as well as a quote that I like and thought related to our theme.
Each guest received a strand of pearls as she arrived however, if you caught someone using the word "Mom" you could take her pearls. The guest who collected the most pearls was the winner.
We also played "What's in Your fabulous Purse"?
Fun little gifts for the game winners which included a
fabulous Eye Mask
utterly divine Soap.
I couldn't resist making more photo props.

Have a fabulous Wednesday!

Breakfast at Tiffany's { menu }

This year I planned a noon brunch for our
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Mother ~ Daughter Tea Party
since I thought it would be fitting to serve
fabulous breakfast themed treats.
As usual I had a hard time narrowing down the menu so we had a lot of dainty entrees and utterly divine desserts to choose from.

Not pictured here is my fancy White Velvet Rose Cake. In my flurry of baking and party preparations I had a few last minute issues with the filling and frosting for the cake. Since I was on a very tight schedule I did not have time to start over and ended up making a completely different mascarpone frosting at the last minute which I used for the filling as well. I was happy to have it frosted but unfortunately did not have time for any fancy decorating. I did end up serving it and while it was simply divine I was disappointed that it was not the beautiful cake I had intended. Oh well, we enjoyed it anyway and I will make it again for another occasion.
In addition to tea I also served individual bottles of sparkling cider in lieu of regular juice. I had also planned on serving my own recipe of blue Tiffany & Co. Punch, however, at the last minute I put on my practical hat and reluctantly decided that although it would be fun it really was not needed.

I will share the DIY Programs tomorrow along with a few other fun details from our
Breakfast at Tiffany's Tea Party.

Happy Friday!

Breakfast at Tiffany's Mother ~ Daughter Tea Party { .... table, decorations, party favors .... }

Breakfast at Tiffany's
was the theme for our fabulous
Mother ~ Daughter Tea Party
which is always the Saturday before Mother's Day.
This special tea party has been a tradition in our family for about 20 years which started as an event that was held at our childhood church. Our mother was always involved with the planning and helped in creating the fun and memorable occasion.  Mothers and daughters came from miles away to attend however, after many years and to our disappointment, the annual church tea party finally came to an end. That was about 7 years ago and since then we have continued the tradition by having our own family Mother ~ Daughter tea party which is now starting to grow as our boys begin to get married. It is always
lots of fun and it all began with
our Mother
A gift from Tiffany & Co. for each guest would have been wonderful
but
I filled little blue boxes with divine Hershey Kisses instead.
Darlings, these were our pretty
Party Favors
the lovely
Tea Party Table
I printed a lot of Audrey Hepburn quotes in different sizes and fonts and set them all around.
And here are the
Glamorous
mothers and daughters!

Breakfast at Tiffany's { tea party invites }

I decided on
Breakfast at Tiffany's
as the theme of this years
Mother ~ Daughter Tea Party.
I wanted to make invites that resembled a Tiffany's shopping bag with a "gift" inside containing the invitation so I created each of the 3 main parts as well as the envelope. I used jewels to embellish the actual invitation, satin ribbon for the "box", added handles to the "shopping bag" and stamped a chandelier on the back of the envelope to tie it all together. Once I had my invites designed I needed a square envelope so I used some leftover silver foil lined Costco envelopes that I had saved from my Christmas photo cards and cut them down to fit the square invites. It worked perfectly. I knew they would require extra postage so I asked Ron to take a few to the post office to find out just how much. Unfortunately, not only were they going to cost an arm and a leg to mail, the post master did not like the fancy font I used for my address labels on the envelopes AND there was only 1 Post Office that had a machine that could handle a square envelope and of course that Post Office was across town...UGH.
Since time was running short I decided to make a Save the Date evite to email to everyone and then hand delivered the traditional invitations.
I will be posting photos of our very fun Breakfast at Tiffany's Tea Party over the next several days which will include decorations, games, food and
The Crown

Happy Friday!
