Kitchen Shower

This is the invitation I made for the kitchen themed
Bridal Shower
I co-hosted with my daughter
for our soon to be
daughter/sister in law.

I designed the invitation in 3 parts:
the apron which serves as the pocket to hold the invite,
the recipe file that folds to hold the recipe card and includes all the party details
and
the recipe card which is also printed on the back.
Fun invites for a fun shower!

clever shirt clips

I have recently discovered these useful clips while removing the packaging on some new dress shirts.

In the past, new men's dress shirts were pinned everywhere to keep them in their perfect rectangular shape.
Now the pins have been replaced by these clever clips which can be used as paper clips, added as an embellishment to scrapbook pages, cards and crafts or maybe to hold quilt pieces together.

They are quite cute with their pin heads on each end.

So simple, yet useful.
A fun little find!!

hair and make-up

Yesterday was the appointment for the
Wedding Day
hair and make-up
trial run.

A hairstyle was chosen and tested and make-up was applied and approved. Notes and photos were taken by the stylist while the MOB, MOG and one of the bridesmaids got a sneak preview
before the big day...

...but
 the finished look is
Top Secret
until the
Wedding
so
this is all I can share for now.

waterfall plants, lights, skirt

The work continues on our waterfall.
We have added more plants although one tree we were searching for was sold out and is now out of season so it will have to wait until next spring. We are also adding a skirt around the front of the pond to clean up the edge and give it a more finished look. We may eventually enlarge it to accommodate a couple of chairs and a small table but we'll try this for now.

 We have also installed lights!
Now we can enjoy our waterfall anytime which is great since the days are becoming shorter and it is getting dark earlier.

summer GRAD party

These were the invitations I made for the party. I added tiny silver star stickers in the middle of the printed stars for a little sparkle.

We printed some simple signs and tied balloons around the yard...

...and put some orange and white grad stickers on these clear cups
to make them a little more festive.

My original plan was to cover the 6 tables with orange and white gingham oil cloth but I wasn't having any luck finding either the oil cloth or the gingham. Finally, on the day before the party I thought of one more store to try, success! Not only did I find oil cloth but they had it in w&o gingham. However, my excitement was short lived when I realized there was only enough fabric on the roll for 1 table. I went ahead and took what was left and then found some nice cotton gingham that matched perfectly to cover the other tables. It worked out great.

We BBQ'd a salmon Ron caught this spring
 as well as
hamburgers and hotdogs.

I made several salads, some baked beans and ordered a Costco cake in case I didn't have time to make dessert
although
I did get some sugar cookies made at the last minute.

A simple backyard BBQ on a beautiful August afternoon!

scattered, smothered and covered!

That is one of the items on the menu at the
WAFFLE HOUSE
in Myrtle Beach.

The very first thing we did when we arrived in MB was program "Waffle House" into our rental car GSP unit. The results showed the nearest WH 14 miles away which was a huge surprise. Ron was under the impression that there were WH's on practically every corner. About a month earlier he had his first WH experience in Atlanta, GA and noticed that they were located everywhere, sort of like Starbucks around here, which made him confident that he could find one conveniently located in the heart of MB. He was determined to take me to one during our trip and was really disappointed when he learned the closest one was so far away. But that didn't stop him from looking. He kept an eye out for the WH sign every time we were out and about. Then, on our last day in MB, as we were driving back to the hotel, out of the blue he spotted one! And wouldn't you know it, it was located right in the hotel district just like he thought it would be. We had breakfast there the next morning before heading to the airport.
Ron got his WH fix and I had my first WH experience.

We also do not have a Bass Pro Shop in our area
 so
when my husband the fisherman spotted this one we had to stop!
Since I had never been to a BPS he wanted to show me around.
Needless to say, I received a personal guided tour.

AND
another first.....
Cruising the strip along the beach front on a
SCOOTER!!!
This was a random and fun addition to our list of things to do.
