DIY Wedding Reception Signs

May and June were fun and busy months. This year those months were full of very special events, three to be exact, which were on three different weekends and many miles apart. The schedule included an out of state commencement, the following weekend an out of state wedding followed by a destination honeymoon, and topped off with a wedding reception after the newlyweds returned from their honeymoon. We were on the go, having a great time with family and making precious memories along the way. While the Newlyweds were on their honeymoon we were back home putting the finishing touches on some fun DIY projects for their wedding reception which the Brides parents were hosting in their backyard.
Mr. Wonderful was asked by the Bride & Groom  to make some fun signs to put around the yard. He has made signs like these the last several years for our nieces bridal shower and wedding and our middle sons wedding so he had everything he needed to create whatever words or phrases they wanted (plus a surprise or two!).
Their wedding was held at the Olympic National Park so they wanted to have words that went along with their wedding theme and also to help guests navigate their way around and find the fun activities, food and dancing.
Once the list of ideas for the signage was finalized and approved by the Bride and Groom, the rest was up to the hubs.  The completed sign was too big to fit in the car, which we knew would be the case, so it had to be transported in parts and assembled when we arrived. The hubs has done this a few times before and knew just what to do to make it work.
The “Build Your Own Trail Mix” table.
This was so cute and such a fun idea! We brought along  a few of our chalkboards too, just in case they were needed. The one above has been used quite a bit and worked great.
A photo table, with an assortment of fun props and a QR code for photo sharing.
The gift & card table was under a big, shady tree.
Even a built~in dance floor. Patio by day, dance floor by night!
The sunset during the reception was so amazing…
…that I could not resist a few photos.
It was a fun and memorable weekend with family and friends!

Doctor Doodle { made into stickers! }

This was a first for me.
Turning one of my doodles into stickers.
This was a drawing I made back in March. Shortly after it was finished I decided to try adding a little color. I was not sure if I would like it with color or not so to preserve my original drawing I made a copy of my original and colored the copy instead.
The color really made it pop and gave me another idea. How about a frame? A frame first and then some names for the doctors. It was beginning to take shape but what next? What would I do with this cute little square picture? Before long another thought occurred to me. Could I turn this into something even more fun and maybe somewhat useful?
Bingo…stickers it was!
They turned out great and have been used as little seals for envelopes, as well as,
 a decoration for water bottles,
and even some bling for badges! Oh what fun!!

Happy Monday!

Luscher Farm

This beautiful historic farm/city park was a wonderful new discovery late this spring.
Our class took a field trip to Luscher Farm and I could not help but fall in love with it.
The kids had a great time exploring different parts of the farm with committed, passionate volunteers who shared their genuine excitement and appreciation for this wonderful place.
The farm, we found out, is actually part of a park in Lake Oswego with paved,  and also maintained unpaved, pathways for walking and exploring. Several people riding bikes were spotted while our class was there so it appeared it is a great option for a scenic bike ride as well.

If you are interested in finding out more about this beautiful place you can visit Friends of Luscher Farms or clink on this link:

Christmas in JULY!

Happy July 1st!
Just popping in to share another chalkboard.
It was easy to change my summer chalkboard into a Christmas chalkboard simply by adding some Christmas lights and a few snowflakes.
The pineapple was so cute I couldn't resist keeping her up there a little bit longer however something new is needed so she will be replaced shortly.

I am hoping to get back in my routine and start sharing here again more frequently  so check back to see what is happening this summer.

Happy Monday!

Homemade APPLE CIDER!

Something new!
We had a bumper crop of apples this year.
So many in fact, that one of our apple trees fell over.
Mr. Wonderful propped it back up and it appears to be okay, at least for now.
We lost some apples as expected, however, the majority survived the fall and they kept growing bigger and bigger.
Finally they were ready to pick and this year the hubs decided to get a cider press and make some apple cider.
We have pressed cider before on different occasions with friends from church and co-workers however we decided it was time to get an apple press of our own to make cider out of all our apples.
It works great!
Our apples did not disappoint.
We have a variety of apples trees and pressed them all together which is probably why the cider is so good. In fact, in my opinion, it could easily pass as dessert!
We have a lot more apples to press and some new recipes to try.
And, you can be sure we will be serving up some
Sweet Apple Cider for
Christmas!
Happy Tuesday!
