Wood Block Cats

Just popping in to share one more fun Halloween craft before they are packed away until next year.
These cute Wooden Black Cats were inspired by my mother who made hers in a class with a group of her friends. While we were chatting about it on FaceTime I took a quick picture, when she held it up, to use as an example just in case I could find time to make one.
However, before there was any chance at all of making a black cat I had to have a wood block cut in the same shape so I checked with the hubs. He just happened to have a perfect leftover scrap from a neighbor who had stopped by recently to have him cut a piece of wood for him. I showed him the picture of what was needed and he proceeded to cut three. We made up our own dimensions and I penciled a "V" to use as a template for the ears. I really liked the rough look of the cedar so did not have him sand it. It reminded me of fur and made them just a little more rustic and a bit more spooky.
Next, I spray painted them black. Once they were dry I gently sanded the edges of the two smaller cats to make them even more rustic.
After making the first one similar to Moms I tried something different for the eyes and collars on the other two cats.
These cute Wood Block Cats will be a fun new addition to the decorations next fall.

Happy Wednesday!

Good Morning Halloween!

Just popping in with a new doodle and...
...a fun little note card envelope.
These cute little envelopes started as a completely different project however as Halloween approached it occurred to me that the shape resembled a cat or an owl so decided to use black paper and voilá! The googly eyes made it even more fun. The nose/beak is actually the notecard inside the envelope.
Have a great morning and a fun evening!

Happy Halloween!

A little lovin’ from the oven…..Pumpkin Cookies

‘Tis the season for pumpkin treats!
Pumpkin cookies were requested and what a great choice for a cool, rainy Saturday in October.
Since we were out of small cans of pumpkin, a large one it was.
The first batch of pumpkin cookies were filled with Raisins and Pecans. This is the one Mr. Wonderful requested. It is one of his favorites and it is obvious why he likes them so much.
There was still one cup of pumpkin left so I also made a batch of Pumpkin Spice cookies. These little gems taste just like pumpkin pie. YUM! These cookies got a little dab of butter cream frosting on top as well. It was hard to decide whether to drizzle or spread so I did some of each.
One large can of pumpkin makes a lot of cookies so there were plenty of extra to package up and share. Just a little Fall lovin’ from the oven!

Happy Monday!

Doodling Around on Friday

Some doodles to start the weekend.
Some just because,
and some heartfelt drawings.
It is also fun to alter them.
But most of all....
...it does my heart good
to draw
Oodles of Doodles.

Happy Weekend!

Oktoberfest 2022 :: BBQ, Band, Bonfire & BEAVS

Last weekend was our
2nd Annual
Oktoberfest BBQ/Street Party.
In fact, it was such a hit last year that we kicked it up a notch and hired a Band this time.
The grill masters did another great job on the Brats, Chicken and Hot Dogs. They also received Oktoberfest aprons this year which was fun.
There are also always a lot of amazing sides including a new addition...
...Dill Pickle Soup. It was amazing!
Once the sun went down and it began to get cold it was time for the annual Bon Fire in our DIY portable fire pit.
It was also full moon last weekend which was of course absolutely beautiful and lit up the clear fall sky. It doesn't get better than that,
except it did...
... with the Oregon State BEAVERS and their incredible game-winning touchdown in the last 13 seconds of the last game of the night!
A great way to end the fun day.

GO BEAVS!!

2nd THURSDAY Doodles & Soup for the Soul

My oh my, the week is flying by.
And so is October. It is hard to believe that November will be here in just a couple of weeks.
Fall days call for soup and homemade chicken and rice was calling. Comfort food at its finest.
Hope your 2nd Thursday, also known as: DBF { day before Friday}, is the best.

Art is when you hear a knocking from your soul and you answer it.

Happy 2nd Thursday!
