DIY: Leprechaun Hat & Pot of Gold

Most of the snow has finally melted, although some of the big piles still have a ways to go before all of it is completely gone.  Nevertheless, it is beginning to feel like spring so last week I began putting out a few St. Patrick’s Day decorations. Just enough to look a bit festive before I switch it completely to Easter.
While I was working on some of my spring cleaning I happened to find some small red clay pots with gold glitter that I had saved from another project and thought they would make cute Leprechaun hats.
To make the project really easy I decided to use some leftover spray paint. Unfortunately I did not have any green so decided to use black instead.
Once the paint was dry I needed some green ribbon to make a band and found this perfect piece in my recycled ribbon stash. The backside did not have any printing which is just what I needed.
Then all the little hat needed was a buckle which I made with a little scrap of card stock. Such a quick and easy project.
Next up was a pot of gold. I was recently given a bag of wonderful gold buttons and thought they might be a good substitute for gold coins.
I grabbed one of my black cauldrons and filled it with some of the buttons.
It worked great and is a fun and unique way to display and enjoy the wonderful gold button collection.
Just a couple simple ways to decorate for St. Patrick's Day using recycled and repurposed items around the house.

Happy Monday!
