city farm chicks & farm fresh eggs

Last week Miss E took care of our neighbors plants and animals while they were away on vacation and since our summer has started off so busy, with all of us going in different directions every day, I was invited along each evening for a little mother/daughter time and also to help with the chores if needed. Typical pet sitting jobs around here unusually involve cats and/or dogs and occasionally a fish or a bird, however, this time it included a lizard, hamster, a 3 legged feral cat, 3 baby chicks and 3 adult chickens. It was quite fun for me since the only job I was asked to do was collect the eggs from the chicken coop each day. By the end of the week we had collected well over a dozen beautifully colored fresh eggs and yesterday we enjoyed a few with our big weekend breakfast.
The freshest eggs we have ever eaten!

  1. Those are beautiful eggs! Does it make you want to start raising a flock of hens in your back yard???? (grin)
