a hundred hearts...

After seeing the wonderful
I decided to try making my own
 Heart Pillow {free}.
I used some Osnaburg fabric I had for the pillow top, muslin for the hearts and black thread for the stitching.
Now that I have all the hearts sewn onto the pillow top I need to wash it to make the edges frayed and fuzzy, at least that is the hope, and then I will post some photos of my finished
 Heart Pillow.

Super Bowl recap { chalkboard, cupcakes, DIY cookie cutter }

A couple weeks ago we hosted a last minute NFL Playoff Party. I wanted to decorate and had lots of ideas however there wasn't much time to prepare so to make things simple I went with team colors for the table cloth, paper plates and napkins, all of which I already had on hand, and used my football bowl for chips. I also had just enough time to write on my lazy susan chalkboard for another quick and easy table decoration.
I made FOOTBALL CUPCAKES for the Super Bowl Game.
At the last minute {4 hours before kick~off} I decided I wanted to make some FOOTBALL CUPCAKES for the Super Bowl Party we were going to.  I didn't have a football shaped cookie cutter and since I wanted all the cookies the same shape and size that meant I had to come up with a way to cut uniform cookies and this is what I came up with. The football cookies turned out a little bigger than I wanted but they worked.

I HEART hand pies {apple}

When our kids were in school I almost always packed them a lunch to take, however, there were  occasional times they wanted the school lunch instead. In grade school our oldest son liked to have a school lunch on days when the menu included apple pie. He loved their individual pies so much that one day I stopped and asked the lunch lady about them. She told me that they were baked in the central kitchen and then delivered to the school so she wasn't privy to the recipe. At that point the idea of making some myself was put on the back burner, so to speak. From time to time the idea would simmer up again but never gained much steam....until last weekend. Finally, after all this time, I did it, I made my family Hand Pies!!

To make my Hand Pies I used my go~to pie crust and filling recipes and in lieu of the pie plate I used a cookie cutter to cut the crust, a fork to crimp the edges and placed the individual pies on a cookie sheet to bake.
Cherry Hand Pies would be especially fun for Valentines Day however only two of us like cherry pie so maybe I will try Berry filling instead.

 Happy FEBRUARY!
